EVERYTHING we need? Really?

I have been MIA since June 14th. I let my yard go, my health go, and my own heart's maintenance go all for the sake of an all consuming 18 hour a day project. I missed time with the most important people in my life over the last 4 months that I can never get back. Time is that one commodity that once spent can not be regained or recaptured. It is gone. So when I think about how much time I have lost just going back a couple of years it turns my stomach. I know the only way that I can stop this kind of unbridled loss is to keep returning to a more disciplined life. It is true that when I am living with discipline and structure my relationship with Christ has the protection it needs to take root and better connect me with Him and to my family and this world. It is like a tether or a moor line or a boundary that puts healthy restrictions where they are needed.

So .... back to my titled blog for this day. EVERYTHING we need? Really?

Well that is what 2 Peter 1.3 says.

Read the verse as it is typed out below, pausing at the end of each line. Let the phrase that you just read echo in your mind and filter through your hearts questions and your current circumstances.

His divine power (Not Yours .... Not Mine .... Not Your Friends .... Not the Government .... Not the latest book .... Only His! )

has given us ( A gift .... Not a loan .... Not a conditioned arrangement .... He is providing for us! )

everything ( Not Somethings .... Not just the Big things .... But everything! )

needed ( What do you require ... What is being asked of us .... What is your deficient .... What is it that you need right now! )

for life ( Life .... is everthing you face each day .... Loss .... Joy .... Pain .... Hope .... Doubt .... Faith .... Hunger .... Satisfaction .... Devestation .... Exhillaration .... Routine/Sameness .... Abrupt Change/Roller Coaster .... Dissappointment .... Success .... Anger .... Peace of Mind .... Depression .... Ecstacy! )

and godliness, ( Eusebeia is the Greek word that is used .... a Life of Reverence .... Respect .... and Piety towards God ... Reflecting God! )

through the knowledge of Him ( What do you know about Him? .... )

who called us ( He is not waiting for us to call him .... He is reaching out to us .... He is calling you .... He is calling your neighbor .... He is calling OBAMA and MCCAIN .... He has your number do you hear His call? )

by his own glory and goodness ( He is reaching out to us from His GLORY and His GOODNESS .... The Glory of God - The Goodness of God calling you and me to Himself .... Why? .... Because He Loves You and Me! )

So do you get it? This verse simply declares that God really does give us EVERYTHING we need. Really. Let 's live in that promise together.

Absolutely true!!!!! Everything you said - about missed opportunities, about disciplined life, about everything we need, we have in HIM. I'm grateful for the reminder, especially in light of the election this next week. We have to let God be our EVERYTHING. He's our only hope. Sis
