Thoughts about Love -
C. S. Lewis in The Four Loves says, "To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket—safe, dark, motionless, airless—it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable . . . The only place outside Heaven where you can be perfectly safe from all the dangers . . . of love is Hell. "
My Thoughts About Love –
Love is risky business. To open yourself up to another. To trust that once you have been seen and known by someone else that they won’t run away screaming.
I frankly can't understand how it happens in the first place!
I think maybe early on we are all just naïve and later on we just hope things work out.
Trying to dissect love after the fact is always fascinating because of all the layers that love has created between people but I think that at its core there is still a mystery that only God can reveal.
I think that C.S. Lewis’s quote above captures the scope of love completely.
So if you have found love or you are in love or you are being loved – thank God and nurture your relationship with God so that the Shalom or Wholeness that results from your walk with God provides the necessary light and water and soil to feed your ability to love others in the most healthy way.
